Knivsta kommun, Sweden

The Swedish municipality of Knivsta implemented collection of used cooking oil in 2013. The locals are given the opportunity to pick up EkoFunnels at the local authorities and are pointed to a central collection point to leave full bottles. The used cooking oil is the collected by a company that refines it and passes it on to for example the chemical industry

Tomas Colm, responsible for waste in Knivsta states that people are positive to the initiative and the local authorities see increasing volumes used cooking oil received and passed on.
